EQUINE WELL-BEING

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 10 A.M. TO 4 P.M. IN THE VIP VILLAGE
Free admission for show visitors

In 2023, the traditional Equine Well-Being Day and Institut de Droit Equin colloquium joined forces to offer the public at the Longines Equita Lyon International Horse Show an opportunity to approach the issue of equine well-being from a legal perspective. The morning was punctuated by contributions from legal professionals on the protection afforded by law to equidae, considered as "sentient movable property"; the afternoon detailed the instructions for use of the attestation of competence and certificate of knowledge for the keeping of equidae introduced on December 31 by the Dombreval law. There was also a focus on the legal tools available to industry professionals. All presentations were illustrated by case studies from equestrian center managers, veterinarians, competition organizers and international riders, among others.
