The 14th edition of the Equirencontres at Equita for the first time!
The "Health Area" is hosting the Equirencontres, a series of conferences organised by Boehringer Ingelheim, for the first time this year. In 2021, they will focus on two breathing problems in horses. The Equirencontres provide a valuable opportunity for exchanges between experts and horse owners, and make it possible to transmit an awareness message and encourage the development of good practices. We look forward to seeing you on 30 October from 2pm.
"My horse has a cough: how can I understand the lab tests? by Dr Xavier d’Ablon, a veterinarian
Dr Xavier d'Ablon will discuss how to treat coughs and give advice to help owners make a diagnosis. Breathing diseases are the second major cause of poor performance in horses, the most common being asthma. Breathing symptoms, which are often minor at first, such as coughing (at the start of work), discharge from the nostrils (in the stable / pasture or after work), difficulty in recovering after a typical effort, are warning signs.
“Rhinopneumonia: what lessons can be learned from this spring's epidemic?, by Dr Vincent Ammann, a veterinarian
Following this spring's epidemic, Dr Vincent Ammann will review equine rhinopneumonia and what it has taught us. This contagious disease is characterised by a breathing illness whose severity varies according to the horse’s age and its state of immunity. Vaccination, available in France, offers horses protection in the majority of cases. This disease can manifest itself in different forms, ranging from breathing difficulties to abortions at the end of gestation, or neurological disorders (episodic ataxia, paresis and urinary incontinence, in particular).
The Equirencontres will be broadcast live on the FFE-TV health channel, and then on the catch-up service from the end of November. It is also possible to watch all the editions of the Equirencontres again via the FFE TV channel’s catch-up service.
