FEI World Cup™ show-jumping: stars int the saddle!

28 October 2019

As a major event in the riding calendar, the Longines Equita Lyon International Equestrian Competition will once again bring together the world's top riders for three days of high-quality competition during the Longines FEI World Cup™  Show-Jumping stage. An overview of the stars and up-and-coming riders at the event...

THE WORLD'S TOP 20 WILL BE WELL REPRESENTED

Among the many head-line riders at the 2019 event, the spectators in Lyon public will have the opportunity to cheer on the reigning European Champion, Martin Fuchs, currently ranked number 2 in the world, who also won the Grand Prix Longines by GL events last year. The Swiss rider will be joined by world No. 1 Steve Guerdat and the recent winner of the Oslo World Cup stage, Bryan Balsiger.

Third in the world rankings, Germany's Daniel Deusser will be lining up alongside his compatriots Christian Ahlmann (world number 10) and Marcus Ehning, eighteenth in the Longines Ranking.

Pieter Devos, currently seventh in the world ranking, will also be at the Longines Equita Lyon, International Equestrian Competition. Having already won the Equita Masters presented by Hermès Sellier in 2017, the Belgian has been in good form in recent weeks and will certainly be keen to perform well in front of the Lyon audience.

Henrick von Eckermann from Sweden and France's Kevin Staut and Simon Delestre (respectively 12th, 15th and 20th in the Longines ranking) will also be competing in Lyon.

Britain will be represented by Scott Brash and William Whitaker along with the Irish riders Denis Lynch and Mark McAuley.

The Italians Emilio Bicocchi, Lorenzo de Luca and Emanuele Gaudiano will also be in the arena, much to the delight of the public.

FRANCE WILL BE REPRESENTED BY BOTH ESTABLISHED AND UP-AND-COMING STARS

Ever faithful to the competition in Lyon, there will be many Tricolores at the event. Defending Olympic champions Pénélope Leprevost, Roger-Yves Bost, Philippe Rozier and Kevin Staut will be competing alongside other members of the French team, such as Julien Epaillard, Mathieu Billot, Félicie Bertrand, Olivier Robert and Olivier Perreau (partner rider of the GL events group). Several up-and-coming French riders will also be taking part in this CSI5*-W, such as Mégane Moissonnier, Thomas Lévêque and the 2019 French Pro Elite 2019 champion, Benoît Cernin, who will be making his début in top-level competition in Lyon
