A GREAT DEMONSTRATION OF REINING FOR THE FINAL OF THE NRHA EUROPEAN NON PRO DERBY YESTERDAY IN LYON!

29 October 2022

The stands were packed in the reining arena yesterday as the crowds came to see the amateur final of this major international reining event, organised for the second year running at Equita Lyon.

A total of 47 competitors from all over Europe took part.

The audience were all out of their seats applauding when Emanuel Gebert, aged just 9, entered the arena. As the youngest competitor at the event, he certainly did not disappoint the public in Lyon, achieving an excellent score of 219.5 riding Gunnalittlestep. This enabled him to win Levels 1&2 of the NRHA European Non Pro Derby. He therefore became the youngest Champion in the history of the European Derby. It was a real treat for the audience in Lyon to witness this performance, which highlighted all the finesse and magic of reining, when horse and rider are in unison and no other help is needed.

The young Czech rider, Sara Karasova (who has just turned 18) won levels 3 and 4, as well as the NRHA European Derby Non Pro Youth class, with her horse KH Yankee Step. She achieved a magnificent score of 223.5, worthy of a professional!

So, the youth really was in the spotlight, yesterday!

Today, the professional riders will be taking to the arena. See you at 6.30 pm to admire the best of the best!
