The Italian rider Alessandro Frassa won the NRHA European Derby Open Level 4 and secured his ticket for Las Vegas!

3 November 2025

This evening, the Oklahoma arena was the place to be for reining fans, and there was not an empty seat in the house. The audience in Lyon were eagerly waiting to see the French champions, Arnaud Girinon and Flexing Guns N Town, who were hoping to win this event yet again so they could secure their second ticket to Las Vegas. Unfortunately, a few small mistakes cost them dear at this level of competition and spoiled the party. After reviewing their pattern, the verdict fell and their score of 219 would not be enough to secure their place on the top step of the podium.

The Italian rider Alessandro Frassa on his mare Shining Gun N Roses (owned by 23 Quarter Horses SRL) won the class with a score of 225.5.

The European Derby certainly lived up to its name with a German rider, two French riders and a Belgian rider winning the other Levels..

In the Level 3 class, Germany's Jasmin Andersdotter and Sparkling and Spooky were crowned champions with a score of 222.

Two couples achieved a score of 219 in the level-2 class and therefore shared first place: the Belgian rider Jody Fonck on Brillante Spook and the French rider Fabien Boiron, who was riding his partner's mare MAQ Ivory Pearl.

Finally, Thomas Sciascia, another French rider, took first place in the level-1 class with a score of 217.5 on Colonel Electricwhiz, owned by Krystel Galtier.
