Award ceremony for the Equita Greatest Ranch Horse - Wyoming Arena
The Equita Greatest Ranch Horse is a 100% ranch-riding challenge, created by the Equita Lyon Western Horse Show 3 years ago. This competition is exclusive to Equita Lyon and attracts riders from all over Europe every year. Ranch disciplines are highly popular because they are very safe and less difficult than other Western-riding disciplines such as cutting or reining.
The challenge brings together 3 disciplines: ranch reining, ranch trail and ranch riding. The horse-and-rider couples are judged on their gaits, their riding lines and ability to deal with progressively more difficult sequences of obstacles.
The competition is approved by the main American breed associations: AQHA for quarter horses, APHA for paint horses and APhC for appaloosas. The French Equestrian Federation has also approved the challenge.
The various classes have been taking place in the central arena since Wednesday, and the conclusion of the competition will take place tomorrow, with the award ceremony scheduled at around 7pm. The most versatile horse, which demonstrated the most dexterity, precision and calmness, will be crowned the winner at a grand awards ceremony.
