CHEVAL TV, THE NEW THEMATIC CHANNEL SPECIALISING IN EQUESTRIAN SPORTS AND THE WORLD OF HORSES, LAUNCHES ITS LINEAR TV SERVICE
To mark the 2021 Longines Equita Lyon International Equestrian Competition, and its four FEI World Cup stages, Cheval TV – a thematic channel specialising in equestrian sports and the horse sector, which was previously only available on the web – will be launching its linear TV (via cable/satellite) service, available on the Freebox in France (channel 175) and gradually on all other TV boxes.
Cheval TV will be offered free of charge during the launch month.
Created in April 2018, Cheval TV was previously an A-VOD platform that broadcast live coverage (several hundred hours) of national and international equestrian competitions and then made them available them on VOD (website and apps) to its community of 140,000 members. Since 2021, Cheval TV has also been producing content for broadcast on the Sport en France channel (the French National Olympic and Sports Committee channel). Building on the success of this content among the sports community, Cheval TV will be launching its own 24/7 TV channel on 27 October.
Jean Morel, the chairman of Cheval TV explains that "this new linear channel was something that horse-riding enthusiasts and equestrian sports fans had been clamouring out for. This kind of offer was really lacking for several years. By launching Cheval TV during Equita Lyon and the Longines Equita Lyon International Equestrian Competition, and giving fans free access to the very best of indoor equestrian sports in France, we are making a real commitment to providing the French equestrian community with high-quality and diverse editorial content every month."
During the event in Lyon, Cheval TV, in partnership with the French Equestrian Federation and Equita Lyon, will be broadcasting live coverage and replays of the stages of the Longines FEI Show Jumping World Cup, the FEI Dressage World Cup, the FEI Driving World Cup and the FEI Pony Jumping World Cup. The Grand National (French national show jumping), the Equita Masters presented by Hermès Sellier, the CSI 2* Grand Prix presented by Land Rover and the various conferences that will be held during the event are also on the programme, broadcast live and on VOD.
Mehdi Jedraoui, a journalist who is well-known among the French equestrian community, has been appointed the channel's Chief Sports Editor.
